Secretariat at Claiborne Farm #109

This is a gorgeous photograph of Secretariat posing for the photographer in his retirement at Claiborne Farm. He is considerd the most widely photographed race horse of all time, so knows how to "mug" fro the camera. His Belmont Stakes world record of 2:24 flat was superior to any Belmont Stakes running performance by at least 10 lengths. Secretariat's three year old season was the greatest run by any horse racing champion ever. During the 1973 Triple Crown season, Secretariat was on the cover of Time Magazine, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated. This was the zenith of horse racing prominence in the eyes of the American public. Gallery of Champions copyright watermark does not appear on the actual photographs
