Damascus 1968 San Fernando Stakes

The champion Damascus is shown in the post parade prior to the 1968 San Fernando Stakes at beautiful Santa Anita Park. Damascus was only off the board once in 32 lifetime starts, his last start in the 1968 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park. A race in which he bowed a tendon and was then retired. This legendary race horse was ridden at Santa Anita by Bill Shoemaker.

Northern Dancer 1964 Preakness Stakes 524

Northern Dancer follows up his Kentucky Derby victory by winning the 1964 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course by 2 and 1/4 lengths. He would be beaten in the Belmont Stakes by Quadrangle before winning the Queens Plate in Canada. He was then retired from horse racing and went on to a fabulously successful career as a horse racing stallion in the breeding shed.
