Secretariat Statue at Belmont Park
This is a poignant photograph of the Secretariat statue at Belmont Park. His Belmont Stakes world record of 2:24 flat was superior to any Belmont Stakes running performance by at least 10 lengths. Secretariat's three year old season was the greatest run by any horse racing champion ever. During the 1973 Triple Crown season, Secretariat was on the cover of Time Magazine, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated. This was the zenith of horse racing prominence in the eyes of the American public. Secretariat was ridden by Ron Turcotte and trained by Lucien Laurin. This photo is not available in sizes larger than 16x24.
