The anticipation leading up to the 1989 Preakness was sky high. Eastern racing fans thought Easy Goer would turn the tables on Derby winner Sunday Silence. Western fans were backing Sunday Silence. What transpired was the most dramatic running of the middle jewel of the Triple Crown. After dueling the length of the stretch Sunday Silence got a nose in front and won a heart stopping victory.
